Frequently Asked Questions

What type of therapy does Dr. Caporale use?

Dr. Caporale utilizes a range of therapeutic principles and philosophies depending on the particular client's needs and goals.  Dr. Caporale often draws from Cognitive-Behavioral principles, which emphasize the importance of identifying and correcting irrational or harmful thoughts as well as changing self-defeating behaviors.  Dr. Caporale commonly prescribes homework to assist the client in applying therapeutic lessons to everyday life.

What can I expect during the first session?

The first session will begin with you telling Dr. Caporale your reasons for seeking therapy, your personal background and whatever information you feel is important to form an understanding of your current situation.  Toward the end of the first session, you and Dr. Caporale will identify and prioritize your goals for therapy.

How long is a session?

Each session is 50 minutes in duration.  Longer sessions can be arranged on a prorated basis.

How long will I need therapy?

How long a person remains in therapy largely depends on his or her goals and preferences.  Some people attend therapy in order to obtain help with a specific problem or symptom and may only require a small number of sessions.  Other people seek therapy for less defined reasons or view it as a process which may be long-term in nature.  Often clients begin therapy for one purpose, but find the process beneficial and continue to attend therapy long after the initial issue is resolved.
