Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Caporale routinely conducts the following types of evaluations:

Psychological Evaluations
Full psychological evaluations help clarify the intellectual and emotional functioning of an individual.  They may be conducted to identify a child's need for gifted or disabled services at school or to establish an individual's proper mental health diagnosis.  A thorough psychological evaluation will include intellectual, projective and objective measures of functioning.

Evaluations for Custody and Dependency Cases
Parents who do not have full custody of their children may be ordered to obtain a psychological evaluation before their parental rights can be restored.

Fitness for Duty Evaluations
Certain organizations, particularly the Military and the Government, require a psychological evaluation to be performed before hiring an individual with a history of mental health treatment.

Psychological Evaluations for Immigration Cases
There are several situations in which persons who are not citizens of the United States may appeal for special permission to remain in the country due to extenuating circumstances.  A psychological evaluation can strengthen a legal appeal in such cases.

Psychosexual Evaluations
Victims of sexual abuse, perpetrators of sexual abuse and sexually reactive children receive psychosexual evaluations to identify unhealthy patterns of thought and behavior related to their sexuality.  Dr. Caporale has specialized training in performing psychosexual evaluations with both victims and perpetrators of sexual abuse.
